The exhibition KIN 金 – Gold in Japanese arts celebrates the refined beauty of gold and its use in various Japanese art forms, guiding visitors on a visual and sensory journey divided into three fascinating stages.
In the first section, you can admire ancient artefacts created using gold on different materials and supports. Decorative objects, screens, fabrics and furnishings become tools for exploring the symbolic and spiritual value of gold in Japanese culture.
La second stage is entirely dedicated to modern and contemporary woodcut printing, with a selection of engravers' prints which reinterpret the ukiyo-e style, enriching it with golden inserts or compositions that pay homage to the luminous aesthetics of gold. Here, gold becomes a metaphor for light, dreams and preciousness.
The route ends with the third section, focusing on the contemporary creations of two great artists: Kazuko Hiraoka, teacher of shodō, Japanese calligraphy, which blends gold leaf and expressive gesture, and Aiko Zushi, an expert in the ancient art of kintsugi, which breathes new life into broken ceramics with poetic golden touches.
An exhibition that alternates between contemplation and wonder, capable of narrating the soul of Japan through the brilliance of gold.
