The exhibition Josef Albers. Meditations represents an extraordinary exhibition opportunity that brings together twenty-nine masterpieces of the Master, many of which almost never exposed to the public, from prestigious institutions including Europe e United States. Edited by Nicholas Fox Weber, The exhibition takes place in the rooms of the 18th-century Villa Panza, establishing a deep and silent dialogue with the Permanent Collection by Giuseppe Panza di Biumo. The search for Josef Albers, a key figure in Bauhaus and pedagogy of the 20th century, focuses on the phenomenology of perception and the dynamic interaction between colour and light.
Through the famous series Homage to the Square, the artist investigates how colour juxtaposition can transform the visual experience, inviting the observer to an exercise in active observation. The works act as real meditative icons, spaces of silence where the human eye is called upon to test the boundary between physical reality and psychological perception. The exhibition route at Varese not only celebrates Albers' intellectual legacy, but also emphasises his influence on subsequent generations of artists in the Black Mountain College and of Yale, offering a renewed perspective on an abstract language that has redefined the concept of Design e Painting of the second half of the 20th century.
