Temporary exhibition
Jem Perucchini. Evenfall
Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation - Turin (TO)

From Tuesday 8.04.2025 to Sunday 12.10.2025
La Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation hosts Evenfallthe first institutional solo exhibition of Jem Perucchini, a Milanese artist of Ethiopian origin. The exhibition presents twelve paintings and a ceramic installation that deal with the theme of twilightunderstood as a moment of transition and transformation between light e shadow, visible e invisible, spiritual e land.
Perucchini's painting is nourished by a plurality of art-historical references ranging from the Italian Late Gothic miniature at Ethiopian frescoes, creating a intercultural dialogue that reinvents the Western iconographic tradition. The works on display reinterpret mythological and historical figures such as Thanatosdeity of death in Greek mythology, and Elagabaluscontroversial Roman emperor, to question our perception of history and its symbols.
The ceramic installation, entitled Carpetwas inspired by a poem by Giuseppe Ungaretti, evoking the idea of interweaving and layering of meanings, like the twilight itself that unites and blurs contrasts. The exhibition stands out for its masterful use of the light and the deep colourswhich render the figures suspended in a contemplative dimension, outside of time.
A visual and conceptual journey that invites reflection on the memoryon the identity and complexity of contemporary artistic narrative.
