IN-PLAY. Design for Sport

IN-PLAY. Design for Sport is an exhibition project curated by Davide Fabio Colaci with Giulia Novati, presented by ADI Design Museum on the occasion of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The exhibition explores the deep connection between sport, design and human rights, emphasising that sport is a universal right and a platform for cultural and social dialogue.

Through a selection of one hundred projects - between iconic objects e contemporary innovations - the exhibition narrates the evolution of sport as design ecosystem, where design intervenes not only to optimise performance, but also to promote inclusion, sustainability e integration of body, technology and environment. Prosthetics, intelligent materials, interfaces and service systems are presented alongside historical devices, offering a dynamic and layered view of change.

The heart of the installation is the video installation Rematches by Somewhere Studio, an immersive space inspired by the playing field, inviting visitors to listen to stories of resilience and inclusion. The equipment design - reversible and with minimal environmental impact - uses aluminium grandstands e recovered materials as the athletics tracks, underlining the museum's commitment to sustainability.

The exhibition is part of the programme of the’Milan Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympics and confirms ADI Design Museum's role as an observatory on the contemporary design, understood as universal language e instrument of freedom.
