The MAcA - Museum A Come Ambiente by Turin hosts a retrospective of profound visual and scientific impact dedicated to James Balog, a photographer who redefined the concept of environmental testimony. The exhibition explores the complex clash between humanity e nature, starting from the author's background in geography e geomorphology to arrive at a photojournalism merging scientific observation e activism.

The focal point of the exhibition is the ambitious project Extreme Ice Survey, considered the most extensive photographic study of glaciers never undertaken. Through a network of cameras, the exhibition documents the dramatic transformation of the cryosphere through images and spectacular time-lapse. The reflection continues with Survivors, a series that portrays in an intimate and unrepeatable way endangered species and majestic ancient trees, highlighting individual fragility.

In the open spaces of the museum develops The Human Element, research in which the’humanity is investigated as a true “fifth element” capable of altering the balance of earth, water, air and fire. The experience is enriched by the collaboration with the festival CinemAmbiente, by screening award-winning documentaries such as Chasing Ice, which close a narrative circle on the transformations of the’Anthropocene. The event, included in the programme EXPOSED Torino Photo Festival, represents an indispensable dialogue between art e science in the beating heart of Piedmont's capital city.
