Enrico Berlinguer was one of the protagonists of 20th century political history, secretary of the Italian Communist Party from 1972 to 1984 and, before that, a tireless militant and leader. Figure of exceptional moral character, rooted in the real country and esteemed even by political opponents, Berlinguer continues to be a point of reference for those seeking an ethics of politics.
On the centenary of his birth and forty years after his death, the exhibition aims to reviving his political legacy, drawing a profound portrait of the man and the leader through materials audiovisual, photographic, sound and documentary. The exhibition route is divided into five thematic sections:
- Affections, dedicated to the family and private dimension, enriched by personal objects and photographs provided by the family.
- The manager, which recounts Berlinguer's long militancy in the PCI, from his beginnings in Sassari to the party's vice-secretariat.
- In the Italian crisis, which explores the years of his secretariat during a period of profound social and political instability.
- The global dimension, who reflects on the international impact of his thinking: from Chile to Vietnam, from Eurocommunism to dialogue with China.
- Current affairs and the future, which invites us to reflect on the relevance of his thinking in a world marked by new global crises.
The exhibition offers an overview on Enrico Berlinguer's political and human legacy, with an accessible but rigorous approach, capable of speaking to the new generations as well.
