included
From Thursday 11.09.2025 to Sunday 30.11.2025

The Diocesan Museum of Brescia dedicates to Hermann Nitschfather of theViennese Actionisma path that puts the bodythe sacred and the mythas keys to reading a work capable of transforming painting into action and memory in liturgy. With the curatorship by Ilaria Bignottiin collaboration with the Nitsch Foundation in Vienna e IAGA Contemporary Art (Cluj-Napoca), the exhibition brings together works by large dimensions e relics of action (the famous Relikt/Relitti), in which the references to Crucifixion, to the Deposition and the Passion intertwine with languages informal and gestures.

The works include red-soaked action coats, canvases and collages with liturgical vestmentsgauze and cloth, up to the large silkscreens and the drawings architectural matrix that inscribe the cross in labyrinths of signs, evoking the drama of the history and the need for collective catharsis. The exhibition invites one to 'look into the abyss' for remember and do not repeatby bringing into dialogue the sacrifice and the memory with the radical language of the Viennese artist, who has always been attentive to the dimension of the rite and the construction of a personal Gesamtkunstwerk. In the context of the St Joseph's Monastic Complexheart of the museum, the works become monuments of an event that traverses earthly pain and interrogates the present, restoring the power of an art that 'presentises' for not to forget.
