The exhibition explores the artistic genius of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec through the lens of its iconic lithographs and its audacious posters. Immersed in the vibrant context of fin-de-siècle Paris, it offers an in-depth look at the works of one of the greatest masters of 19th century graphic art.
The exhibition, coming to Italy for the first time after several stops in Europe, consists of over 120 works and wants to celebrate the 160th anniversary of Toulouse-Lautrec's birth.
The exhibition opens with an overview of the lively artistic and cultural environment in Paris during the Belle Époquehighlighting the seething atmosphere of cafés, cabarets, theatres and the circus, which so inspired Toulouse-Lautrec.
The exhibition route will highlight precisely its recurring themes, including the circus, the parisian nightlife, the portraits of artists e celebrities of the time and the representation of marginalised social classes.
In a dedicated area, visitors could also experience the creative process of Toulouse-Lautrec through interactive stations of artistic creation.
