Almost forty years after the first retrospective, the National Mountain Museum dedicates a fascinating new exhibition to Guido Rey (1861-1935)emblematic figure at the turn of mountaineering, photography e literature. This exhibition aims to offer a renewed and deeper reading of his personality, presenting unpublished photographic and documentary material that highlight his multifaceted nature. Rey was an absolute protagonist of mountain culture, best known for his five ascents of the Matterhorn Mountain and for the famous volume he dedicated to it in 1904. His influence goes far beyond that, however, thanks to his network of relationships with mountaineers, photographers, artists and writers both Italians and foreigners.

The exhibition layout, designed for the Museum Rotundais articulated in a free-flowing pathway, with a central fulcrum dedicated to the biography of the author. Around this develop four thematic sections that delve into its main areas of interest: from alpine photographs to mould images pictorialistfrom literary production to the relationship with the visual arts. The exhibition emphasises Rey's natural inclination for mixing languages, between writing, drawing e photographic imagerevealing the intimate coherence of his artistic and human journey.
