Temporary exhibition
The Etruscans and Holland. A/R of the Corazzi bronzes
ART MUSEUM - LUIGI ROVATI FOUNDATION - Milan (MI)
includedFrom Wednesday 1.04.2026 to Sunday 4.10.2026
The exhibition presents the exceptional return to Italy of the nucleus of precious Etruscan bronzes belonging to the collection of Galeotto Ridolfini Corazzi, now kept at the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden by Leiden. The exhibition, set up in the Underground floor of the museum, was born from the collaboration between the Luigi Rovati Foundationthe MAEC by Cortona and the Tuscan municipality, exploring the deep connection between the private collecting and the construction of the European cultural heritage.
Among the masterpieces on display are votive artefacts such as the Boy with a goose, which bears an inscription on its leg, and the statuette of Laran, deity of war depicted with helmet and armour. Also of note is the bronzetto of the Griffin from the 4th century BC, dedicated to Tinia. Alongside the exhibits, a fine selection of ancient volumes - including works by Filippo Buonarroti, Lodovico Coltellini and the Museum Cortonense - documents the critical fortune and the transmission of iconographic models over time. The route highlights how the collections born in the 18th century have become instruments of shared knowledge, integrating dialogue between public and private institutions in the preservation of the material memory.
