ACCORSI-OMETTO MUSEUM - Turin (TO)
includedFrom Tuesday 31.03.2026 to Sunday 6.09.2026
La Accorsi-Ometto Foundation presents a major exhibition dedicated to Giovanni Antonio Bazzi, famous as the Sodom, almost eighty years since the last historical retrospective. The exhibition, curated by Serena D'Italia, Luca Mana e Vittorio Natale, explores for the first time in a systematic way the youth production of the artist, highlighting the personal language born of a frenetic reworking of different cultural experiences. The exhibition itinerary, divided into seven sections, ideally reconstructs the journey of Sodom from training to Vercelli at the workshop of Giovanni Martino Spanzotti, to the great fresco cycles in the Senese, as in Sant'Anna in Camprena e Monteoliveto, finally arriving at the prestigious appointments at Rome under the auspices of Agostino Chigi.
With over fifty works, including unpublished and loans from institutions such as the Brera Art Gallery, the Borghese Gallery, the Vatican Museums and the Musée Jacquemart-André by Paris, visitors can immerse themselves in the buzz of the Renaissance. The dialogue between culture Lombardy by Leonardo and that of the central Italy is evidenced by comparisons with masters such as Bernardo Zenale, Pinturicchio e Macrinus of Alba. The exhibition concludes with masterpieces from the full maturity, offering a comprehensive view of an extraordinary artist who was able to fuse his Piedmontese roots with Roman and Sienese innovations.
