Redefining Jewellery - 10th Edition

The Bijou Museum by Casalmaggiore hosts the tenth edition of Redefining the Jewel, a prestigious curatorial project conceived and directed by Sonia Patrizia Catena since 2010. The exhibition is entirely dedicated to the research and valorisation of the contemporary jewellery, understood as an autonomous and profound artistic language. The event is part of the larger project The libraries' sports village, an initiative funded by Lombardy Region within the Culture Games, on the occasion of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

This special edition brings together 47 artists' jewellery offering an original interpretation of the mountain. The mountain is not presented as a simple natural landscape, but as a archetype, symbolic body and experience of ascent. The artists involved have translated matter into energy and metaphor, inviting the visitor to look up to new creative heights. Enriching the exhibition is the contemporary artist Alex Sala with its project HERMITAGE, which establishes a direct dialogue with the jewellery on display. Among the works on display are also creations by Gaia Descovich, competition winner “Contemporary Jewellery 2025”, which confirm the museum's role as a nerve centre for international artistic experimentation in the field of ornamentation.
