GALLERIE D'ITALIA - MILAN - Milan (MI)
includedFrom Wednesday 28.01.2026 to Monday 6.04.2026
In the heart of the Gallerie d'Italia - Milan, an intense and refined visual experience comes to life with the exhibition Gianni Berengo Gardin. The Studio of Giorgio Morandi, a photographic journey into the creative space of the Bolognese master. Berengo Gardin, one of the most authoritative Italian photographers, documents with his unmistakable gaze Giorgio Morandi's atelier, shortly before it was dismantled in 1993. A place that appears as a monastic cell, silent and suspended in time, where painting becomes meditation.
This cycle of photographs is a part of the larger project Metaphysics/Metaphysicsdesigned by Vincenzo Trione and part of the’Milan Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad, which explores Metaphysics not only as an artistic current, but as a widespread language that contaminated photography, film, design, literature, architecture, music. In this context, Morandi's studio reveals itself as a private cathedral of visual thought, in which bottles, vases and plates become motionless icons of a suspended poem, lit by a rarefied, misty light.
Berengo Gardin completes a journey into the room which is also a journey into Morandi's soul, restoring in images what the painter used to tell us in painting: the infinite in the everyday. His photographs are a form of respect, an act of silent devotion. A homage that becomes almost identification, where photography is transformed into painting. The result is a lyrical and rigorous work, a perfect synthesis of vision and introspection.
