Giancarlo Iliprandi. Design to communicate

The ADI Design Museum celebrates the centenary of the birth of Giancarlo Iliprandi, a pivotal figure in the Italian visual communication of the second half of the 20th century, with an exhibition covering more than fifty years of creative activity. Giancarlo Iliprandi. Design to communicate is a tribute to his experimental and interdisciplinary approachcapable of integrating graphics, photography, typography, illustration, publishing e scenography.

Via archive materials, sketches, photographs e original worksthe exhibition route is divided into thematic islands that follow the author's design evolution: from the large-scale distribution (La Rinascente, Standa, Grancasa) to themagazine and music publishing (Interni, Abitare, Rivista Rai, Dischi del Sole), from the institutional communication at typographic projects for Nebiolo and Honeywell.

An entire section is dedicated to the hand-drawingtestimony to its profound figurative culturewhile other cores explore the influence of its painting and scenography training and the decisive role in the associative and educational.

Edited by Monica Fumagalli Iliprandi e John Baule, with the setting up of Lissoni&Partners, the exhibition not only pays tribute to the professional, but also highlights the cultural legacy left by Iliprandi in the new generations. An invitation to rethink the design as a tool for interpreting the world and as a bridge between disciplines, languages and audiences.
