The exhibition Noa Noa's diary and other adventures explores the extraordinary artistic experience of Paul Gauguinwith a focus on his famous book Noa Noa's diary, written after the stay in Tahiti and enriched by beautiful woodcuts. The exhibition includes works such as the painting Tahitiana (1891), Polynesian landscape with hut and an important monotype saved from being burnt at the stake imposed by the Polynesian authorities.
An entire section is dedicated to the School of Pont-Avenwith works by Émile Bernard, Maurice Denis, Maxime Maufrawhile a special in-depth report on the complex relationship between Gauguin and Van Gogh through letters and documents. The exhibition also presents the personal notebook of the artist, with sketches, studies and notes on works sold and traded, as well as rare watercolours, photographs and documents.
An immersive journey into Gauguin's universe, between art, dreams and tormentsto discover one of the greatest innovators of modern painting, who influenced Matisse, Picasso and the German Expressionists.
