includedFrom Tuesday 15 September 2026 to Wednesday 6.01.2027
The exhibition programme forms part of the eighth edition of the project Furla Series, the collaboration between Furla Foundation and the GAM – Milan Gallery of Modern Artcurated by Bruna Roccasalva. The solo exhibition by Shilpa Guptaentitled One Palm Closer to the Sky, presents a collection of new works born out of a profound reflection on the dialogue between the’contemporary art and the permanent collection of the Milan museum.
The Indian artist focuses her exploration on the language meaning space of freedom, of relationships and resilience, exploring the complexity of human communication through historical installations and new works created specifically for the galleries of Royal Villa. Through sound installations, sculptures and textual works, the exhibition invites reflection on the concepts of border, censorship, identity e community, transforming the historic neoclassical architecture into a sounding board for forgotten stories and silenced voices. The project reinforces the institutional commitment championed by the partnership to highlight the contribution of women artists to the contemporary global scene, creating a poetic and conceptual bridge between the historical memory of Milan and the pressing issues of the present.
