The exhibition is proposed as a fascinating itinerary through the theme of the journey, understood as discovery, exploration and an extraordinary opportunity to dialogue between civilisations. Through a careful selection of works from the civic collections, many of which are being presented to the public for the first time, the exhibition spans the millennia to recount the many facets of the human experience in motion.

The visitor is taken on an adventure that starts from the’antiquities to the enterprises of the 19th century explorers in the heart of the’Africa. Special emphasis is placed on the wonders of the’Far East and the timeless charm of the’Pharaonic Egypt, territories that have fuelled the collective imagination of generations of travellers. The exhibition also explores the taste for the exotic typical of the 19th century, documenting the spread of chinoiserie, fashionable objects that testify to the aesthetic influence of oriental cultures in Europe. Among the secrets of Middle Eastern landscapes and historical artefacts, the exhibition restores the vision of a world that, although far away, became accessible through the courage of those who decided to go “off course”. The rooms of the City Museums of Monza, located in the historic setting of the House of the Humbled, They thus become the ideal stage for rediscovering the value of knowledge and the encounter with the Other through art.
