EGO - From Adhesive Tape to Masterpieces

At the Roman Forum Hall of Venerable Ambrosian Library, the artist's solo exhibition No Curves, entitled EGO - From Adhesive Tape to Masterpieces and edited by Antonello Grimaldi, proposes a fascinating exhibition. The international pioneer of tape art places its production in the contemporary debate on the digital overexposure, offering a profound reflection on being and appearing in the age of social media. Through the geometric use of the adhesive tape, characterised by the total absence of curved lines, the artist deconstructs and reinterprets the’classical iconography of the museum. Renaissance figures merge with the culture of the’urban art, transforming themselves into metropolitan heroes.

The Music by Leonardo da Vinci becomes a modern DJ, the portrait of Michel de l'Hospital by Moroni changes into an urban gentleman, while the work inspired by Caravaggio launches a provocation on the old lira banknotes and the Fruit Soup. The portrait of Napoleon and the historical figure of Giuseppina Negroni Prati Morosini are reinvented as contemporary icons. Central element of the narrative is the balaclava (balaclava), which rises from a symbol of urban anonymity to a universal mask, inviting the public to active participation to reveal the identity of the characters. Unpublished series complete the Silent Masks, a geometric experimentation on glass that evokes social fractures, and Paper Metamorphosis, focused on the glossy aesthetics of magazines.
