Within the picturesque complex of the’The Distinguished Collegiate Church of Saints Peter and Orso, in the heart of Aosta, the new site-specific exhibition project curated by L’Artisanà and the Superintendency for Cultural Heritage and Activities offers a programme entirely focused on the theme of Memory. Here, everyday objects from rural traditions such as chests, cots, butter moulds and household utensils, alongside sacred images, crosses, rose windows and small engraved symbols, evoke a world in which matter is never silent.
The items in the’Aosta Valley crafts They thus become living presences, capable of conveying the intimacy of the home, the gestures associated with nourishment, the need for protection, and the deep, everyday emotional connection with the sacred. Inside the historic Priory of Saint Orso, with a special focus and in-depth analysis devoted to the figure of St Francis, celebrating the expressive richness of simple lines, and commemorating the profound urban transformations that have shaped the city of Aosta. The exhibition invites visitors to embark on an anthropological journey through the artefacts, to rediscover in the present the most authentic connections and forms of expression of a Alpine culture who has made material, the hand and memory the fundamental pillars of his artistic expression.
