The new widespread exhibition project Dialogues, the result of a collaboration between L’Artisanà and the Superintendency for Cultural Heritage and Activities, aims to explore the region’s historical and artistic heritage and the’Aosta Valley crafts through the lens of the popular devotion. Against the picturesque backdrop of the Sarriod de La Tour Castle by Saint-Pierre, the exhibition explores and delves specifically into the theme of Connection.
The medieval fortress allows us to view the entire heritage as a living tapestry of connections: connections between families, castles, coats of arms, materials, works of art and territories. From the shared roots of the noble house of the Sarriod In fact, two distinct branches emerge, the Sarriod d’Introd and the Sarriod de La Tour, inextricably linked by a shared history that is reflected in the architecture and the collections. Within the manor’s rooms, the works of art and artefacts on display bear witness to deep artistic and historical ties: amongst these, the historic tiles originating from the territory of Introduction and the famous Lamentation over the Dead Christ attributed to Jean de Chetro. This seminal work stands as an extraordinary testament to a network of workshops, technical expertise and artistic and spiritual sensibilities that permeated the entire Aosta Valley during the Four hundred, bringing communities and forms of expression together.
