Davide Tranchina. Lightyears Away
CAMERA - Italian Centre for Photography - Turin (TO)
includedFrom Saturday 17 October 2026 to Wednesday 6.01.2027
A visual and conceptual journey unfolds in the Project Room’s galleries, taking visitors through over twenty years of artistic research conducted by Davide Tranchina, one of the most authoritative and sophisticated authors of the contemporary Italian photography. Edited by Walter Guadagnini, the exhibition explores the ongoing dialogue between reality and artifice, turning our gaze towards the horizons of the sky, the cosmos and the outer space, where scientific observation meets poetic imagination. The artist’s practice is characterised by a transcendence of the traditional boundaries of photographic language: her works, in fact, arise from the intersection between analogue experimentation and digital technology, combining historical techniques that do not involve the use of a camera with sophisticated visual reinterpretations. The imagery of Tranchina It transports visitors to stellar landscapes and luminous visions, evoked with extraordinary visual appeal.
Alongside the historical collections, the exhibition reaches its climax with a prestigious unpublished work, designed and conceived specifically for the spaces at ROOM a Turin. The exhibition invites the public to question the concepts of perception and distance, transforming light from a mere photographic tool into the living substance of representation. The catalogue, edited by Dario Cimorelli Publisher enriches and complements this essential creative journey.
