The exhibition From Impressionism to Modernity: Masters of Light and Colour offers a fascinating journey through the great artistic revolutions between the 19th and 20th centuries. Curated by the Prof. Vincenzo Sanfo and organised by theBelocal Association with the Municipality of MondovìThe exhibition brings together a selection of paintings, drawings, etchings, lithographs and sculpturestestifying to the stylistic and technical innovations of this crucial period.
The exhibition starts with the masters of the Realismincluding Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot e Gustave Courbetforerunners of a painting attentive to reality and luminous atmospheres. From here, the itinerary opens up to the revolution of theImpressionismwith masterpieces by Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Édouard Manet and Camille Pissarrowho transformed painting with the use of light, colour and free brushstrokes.
The exhibition also explores subsequent developments in art, with the Post-Impressionismthe Symbolism and the early avant-garde movements of the 20th century. Among the protagonists are Paul Cézannewhich revolutionised the structure of pictorial space, Paul Signacwith his pointillist technique, and Marie Laurencinone of the first artists to gain a prominent role in the European art scene.
