From the Squares to the Courts. Stories of games and shows between the 18th and 19th centuries

The exhibition presents rare iconographic evidence from the 18th and 19th centuries, including paintings from some of the Royal Residences of Savoy and precious posters of the Incisa Fund of the Library of the Episcopal Seminary of Asti.

Among the posters, some refer to the “circus” that was just then taking its first steps. Among the works on display is an important puppet theatre dating from the end of the 18th century and a section of the exhibition dedicated specifically to magic lanterns, optical boxes and fantascopes for which the collaboration of the National Cinema Museum in Turin was used.

The exhibition is enhanced by the direction and narration of Arturo Brachetti which takes visitors inside the exhibition and through storytelling projects them into the era to which the exhibited works refer, evoking sounds, shouts and images of squares and courts.
