With shoes in the mud

TheFreidano Ecomuseum by Settimo Torinese pays profound homage to the figure of Vittorio Savoia, estimated photojournalist and journalist who died prematurely in 2023. The exhibition is an essential tribute to his 20-year career, a career that has indelibly marked the local community and the Turin journalism thanks to extraordinary human and professional qualities. The exhibition develops through an authentic gaze, that of the reporter who searches for the news “by getting his shoes muddy”, an expression Vittorio liked to use to describe a job made up of constant presence in the field and kilometres travelled.

The exhibition is divided into two key moments. The first part serves as training novel, exploring Savoy's original passions: the music, the street demonstrations and the work of the law enforcement. These shots come from a portfolio personally selected by the author. The second part focuses on the long association with the The New Periphery, documenting since 2008 the life of Settimo Torinese through big events and small everyday stories: from the crime news to theimmigration, up to emergency management pandemic. In conjunction with the exhibition, the municipality decided to officially name the Exhibition Space to Vittorio's memory, recognising his role as a rigorous and sensitive witness of the territory.
