City architecture community

The exhibition Enrico Castiglioni. City architecture community, edited by Paolo Bossi in collaboration with Barbara Galli, is a heartfelt homage to architect Enrico Castiglioni (1914-2000), central figure of the’European architecture in the second half of the 20th century. The exhibition is part of the programme of BArchitecture - Dialogues on contemporaneity, a cultural event that animates Busto Arsizio with reflections on urban design and the contemporary city.

A twenty-five years since the disappearance and in conjunction with the recent completion of the inventory of the Professional Archives of the architect, donated by his sons to the Historical Archives of the Politecnico di Milano, the exhibition aims to highlight a design legacy that is still deeply rooted in the urban fabric of Busto Arsizio, city that owes much to its architectural vision.

The exhibition occupies the spaces of the Civic Art Collections of Palazzo Marliani Cicogna, and includes a significant number of photographs by Marco Introini, realised thanks to the collaboration with AFI - Italian Photographic Archive, documenting Castiglioni's works and visions. A detached section on the first floorcurated by Angela Cerutti, also presents a selection of works by the architect belonging to the civic collections.

Completing the exhibition are numerous free activities for adults and children, including guided tours of the exhibition and the area, inviting them to discover the architect's contribution to the urban landscape first-hand.
