Pink Skies and Water Lights

TheMilan Civic Aquarium presents the photo exhibition by Daniela Cavallo, a profound act of love towards the city of Milan aimed at rediscovering its memory through its landscapes and, above all, its waters. Promoted by the Municipality of Milan Culture and edited by Marco Fioretti, The exhibition features a critical text by Roberto Mutti. The exhibition presents about twenty works of the Apulian artist, who creates hybrid images from a visual archive of the city dated between the end of’Nineteenth century and the first of the Twentieth century. Through the digital reworking of vintage postcards, Cavallo creates a fruitful dialogue between history e contemporary sensitivity.

The core of the project lies in the Water Lights, consisting of large-scale works dedicated to the water heritage Milanese: come on Canals to theIdroscalo, to the urban reflections that run through the entire fabric of the city. In this vision, the’water becomes a metaphor for flow and communication, element that has historically linked Milan to major trade exchanges and cultural growth. Completing the exhibition is the series Milan in Colours, which offers a reinterpretation of the’historical iconography through an abstract colour palette, oscillating between pastel tones and intense tones. Here, colour becomes the tool to reactivate the perception of the city and restore vitality to images of the past in a poetic and surprising dimension, typical of the pop sensibility.
