The exhibition Cherasco Solidarity. A caring community from the Confraternities to todayset up in the prestigious rooms of Palazzo Salmatoris, traces the fil rouge that over the centuries has characterised the forms and modalities of care and assistance in the community of Cherasco up to the contemporary experiences with which the concept of welfare society.
The exhibition, curated by Enrica Asselle and Diego Lanzardo, was created on the initiative of the Associazione Cherasco Cultura, in collaboration with the Municipality of Cherasco, the Museo Diocesano di Alba (Mudi) and the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo, as well as some private sponsors.
Le five sections exhibitions explore through seven centuries of history the theme of the caring community in Cherasco and its many modes of expression, tracing the evolution and changes of the solidarity model throughout history, and innervating Cherasco's events on this.
The story weaves historical places, works of art, institutions, life stories and archive documents from the city's cultural heritage: the Confrerie medieval times, the Confraternities of the Black and White Battuti, the Hospitals, the birth of the first state legislation with the Congregations of Charity, the Monte di Pietà, the Mutual Aid Societies and the Public Benefit Institutions, up to the contemporary with reflections and open questions on the present and possible future scenarios.
