The exhibition There is paper and paper at Marcello Morandini Foundation proposes an original exploration of the artistic potential of papermaterial that is as everyday as it is extraordinary. Under the curatorship of Renate Bender e Marco Meneguzzothe exhibition brings together six international artists which, through stratifications, reliefs, folds, cuts and transformationsreveal the hidden soul of the paper.
Among the protagonists, Helmut Dirnaichner creates vibrant surfaces with cellulose, stones and natural pigments, while Franz Riedl studies the tactile qualities of the rough paperreducing form to a poetic architectural essentiality. Reinhard Wöllmer model with care papier-mâché sculptural objectsemphasising the physicality of the material. The Japanese artist Rakuko Naito works the washi paper in a constant balance between empty and fullwhile the iconic Bruno Munari redefines paper as creative tool in its own right, between sculpture and design. Grazia Varisco instead investigates the 'anomaly' with its Extra-pagesworks capable of challenging the geometric order to open up to free and unexpected interpretations.
The exhibition is enriched with the Focus-on dedicated to the photographer from Varese Alberto Bortoluzzidialogue with paper through the lens of theorigami and natureand with the installation site-specific by the Turkish artist Şakir Gökçebağ, which from mid-July will offer a surprising reinterpretation of the theme.
A dense and multiform route that invites the visitor to rediscover the paper such as poetic vehicle, tactile e conceptualin a combination of art and formal research.
