Lana House

Within the Sottsass Hall, located on the first floor of Triennale Milan, a cultural operation of extraordinary philological value comes to life: the permanent reconstruction of the core of Lana House. This iconic interior, designed by Ettore Sottsass around the middle of the 1960s for a private residence in Milan, represents a perfect synthesis of his vision of living. Domestic architecture is conceived here not as a simple succession of rooms, but as a “small square” open, a fluid place dedicated to the meeting and circulation of ideas.

The exhibition is the result of rigorous research work conducted by the’Archive and from the Restoration Laboratory of the Triennale, aimed at preserving the material and conceptual integrity of the work. The project saw the involvement of key figures such as Luca Cipelletti, responsible for setting up, and Christoph Radl, who took care of the art direction. Thanks to the collaboration with the Sottsass Studio and the support of Barbara Radice Sottsass, visitors can now immerse themselves in a sophisticated wooden structure that serves as the central hub of the space, testifying to the revolutionary approach of one of the leading exponents of the Italian design and thearchitecture international. The work stands as a living manifesto of how design can shape not only objects, but the human and social experience within the home.
