A major retrospective celebrates Carrie Mae Weemsworld-renowned American artist, known for her photographic investigations of identity, sexism e social class.

Beyond 100 works tell his unique insight into the injustices of the presentwith images rooted in places often excluded from official history: studies, plantations, houses, churches in the black community, museums e monuments.

The focus of the exhibition is Preachnew installation commissioned for the occasion: a journey through the African-American spirituality, between devotion e complaint.

Also on show are iconic works such as Kitchen Table Series (1990), Museums (since 2006), and recent projects such as Scenes and Takes (2016) e Painting the Town (2021), up to the videos The Shape of Things (2021) e Leave Now! (2022).

Each Wednesday the museum hosts meetings and events of the public program #INSIDE.


The exhibition is part of the main programme of the second edition of EXPOSED Torino Foto Festival entitled Beneath The Surface.
