Palazzo Mazzetti hosts the most comprehensive anthological exhibition on the art of Carlo Carosso (Asti, 1953 - 2007)which intends to celebrate in the Douja d'Or the work and genius of the artist of the Bacchi.
The exhibition, realised by the Asti Musei Foundationin collaboration with the Cassa di Risparmio di Asti Foundationthe Municipality of Asti and the Bank of Astiis curated by the poet Francesco Antonio Lepore and accompanied by a catalogue with the first critical monograph that comprehensively explores the entire artistic production of the Italian-Greek artist, whose father is from Asti and mother from the island of Samos.
In the rooms of Palazzo Mazzetti, which have already housed the works of Chagall, Boldini and Caravaggio, a fascinating journey through the different souls of Carlo Carosso's inspiration has been recreated with more than one hundred works on display: the Hellenic one, marked by the meeting with the poet Ghiannis Ritsos and the famous folders of watercolour woodcuts; the one from Asti, with vine shoots, grapes, truffle hunters and festive villagers; and the Orphic one, with illustrations for authors such as Ritsos, Lèopold Sèdar Senghor, Titos Patrikios and Edoardo Sanguineti.
