Capodimonte from Royal Palace to Museum
Five centuries of masterpieces from Masaccio to Andy Warhol
ROYAL PALACE OF VENARIA REALE - Venaria Reale (TO)
includedFrom Friday 29.03.2024 to Sunday 15.09.2024
A large exhibition with over sixty masterpieces from the Capodimonte art collections that include authentic masters such as Caravaggio, Titian, Masaccio e Parmigianino, to name a few.
A journey to discover an exceptional collection but also a fascinating history: that of a great museum that, over the centuries, has preserved some of the most prestigious art collections in Europe.
As a reminder of the close relationship between the Savoy and the Bourbon dynasties, the exhibition opens with a room entitled Neapolitan Artists for the Court of Savoy with important loans from the collections of the Royal Museums of Turin. The Neapolitan masters were in fact great protagonists for the court altars and building sites of the Savoy residences.
The layout of the exhibition rooms follows the extraordinary history of the Royal Palace of Capodimonte, which initially housed the Farnese art collection to become the first Neapolitan museum. The museum was enriched over time by the Bourbon collection and works from from churches and convents of the territory that had brought into the royal heritage works mainly from the southern school.
