The exhibition Bice Lazzari. The languages of her time represents the first major Italian retrospective dedicated to Bice Lazzari, a refined and independent artist who has traversed the entire Twentieth century leaving a deep and recognisable mark. Curated by Renato Miracco in collaboration with theBice Lazzari Archive and the GNAMC - National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Romethe exhibition brings together over 110 works, from prestigious Italian and international institutions, including Ca’ Pesaro of Venice, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum of New York and the Phillips Collection of Washington D.C.
The exhibition spans more than forty years of his career, revealing Lazzari's versatility: from the wall decorations to the elegant textile motifs commissioned by Gio Ponti, up to projects for the motor vessel Raffaello. Central is the continuous dialogue with the Italian and European avant-gardes, always maintaining an autonomous and personal voice, made up of essential lines, visual rhythm and a constant search interior and formal.
This exhibition, enhanced by texts by Dorothy Kosinsky e Christine Macel, is a unique opportunity to explore the depth of a unique artistic language, solitary but open, where each work bears witness to a coherent and passionate journey into the heart of the short century.
