A fascinating and profound journey through the paintings of the Twentieth century, designed to explore the fundamental evolution of the’European modern art and its various forms of expression. The exhibition offers a prestigious journey through sixty works by undisputed masters of the calibre of Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, André Derain, Jean Dubuffet, Wifredo Lam, Hans Hartung, Simon Hantaï e Francis Bacon. The project stems from a major scientific collaboration with the Lyon Museum of Fine Arts, edited by Sylvie Ramond, and is organised by the Consortium of Royal Savoy Residences together with Expo Poster e MondoMostre.
The main focus of the programme is on the’studio, understood not merely as a physical production workshop, but as pivotal space, the centre of ceaseless creation and experimentation. The artist’s studio becomes an intimate place of inspiration and, at the same time, fertile ground for the dialogue and relationships Intellectuals amongst masters. The works on display bear witness to the roots of the aesthetic revolution and the creative freedom of the last century: a multifaceted journey that begins with the pursuit of expressive purity in form and colour and culminates in the dramatic tensions of the’Expressionism and the complex post-war figurative art.
