The exhibition Asa Nisi Masa celebrates Giuseppe Maraniellokey figure of thecontemporary Italian artwith an evocative exhibition between the Royal Gardens and the Sabauda Gallery of the Royal Museums of Turin. The exhibition proposes 14 sculptural and environmental worksexpression of a unique artistic language based on the synthesis of memory, matter and imagination.
In the green of Royal Gardens, take shape winged demons, duelling centaurs, tightrope walkers, hermaphrodite figures and symbolic objects such as stills and flasksin a universe reminiscent of the visions of Hieronymus Bosch. The Nest, an evocative bronze and iron sculpture that becomes a metaphor for a mental refuge, a cradle of dreams and possibilities.
The tour continues in the Sabauda Gallery, where there are marble and mosaic works, such as The cat sleeps round o The Eye of Narcissus. The entire project, curated by Francesco Tedeschi and realised with Nicola Loi - Copernicus Studiopays tribute to an artist who knew how to fuse myth, recovered materials e dreamlike formsspanning more than five decades of visual research.
The title of the exhibition, Asa Nisi Masaquotes a famous formula of Federico Fellinialluding to the creative mystery that animates Maraniello's works. The event is accompanied by a Polistampa catalogue with critical texts, an unpublished conversation with the artist and a focus on the restoration of the Giardini Reali.
