Artshow (1986-2011)

At the Museo del Novecento an exhibition celebrates Artshow, the historic pocket guide born in Milan and dedicated to contemporary art. Conceived and directed by Giulio CiavolielloFor more than 20 years, the publication has been an essential tool for finding your way around exhibitions, openings and art events in Italy.

The exhibition presents original covers, historical issues and editorial materials that narrate the practical and social function of the guide: without commentary, it offered concise information - title, place and date - enriched by maps, chronological lists and columns. Its compact format and free distribution made it accessible and widespread, fostering the creation of a living and dynamic community of artists, critics, curators and enthusiasts.

The exhibition marks the start of a archive of the contemporary inside the Museum, in the Archives space, dedicated to the memory of the Milanese art system. The publications of Artshow Edizioni will become part of this new fund.
