Arnaldo Pomodoro: a life
GALLERIE D'ITALIA - MILAN - Milan (MI)
includedFrom Friday 29.05.2026 to Sunday 18.10.2026
The exhibition is a solemn tribute one year after the death of Arnaldo Pomodoro and on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. Edited by Luca Massimo Barbero e Federico Giani, The exhibition outlines the story of a creative adventure spanning more than sixty years, from the informal beginnings of the 1950s to the more recent experiments of the 2000s.. The exhibition route winds through the historical rooms of the Gallerie d'Italia, Milan, starting with the Salon Scala to touch the 20th century building site, Brentani Palace and the Octagonal cloister.
Through an anthological core of over forty works from the Collections of Intesa Sanpaolo and the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, the public can rediscover the cornerstones of the Maestro's production, characterised by the constant dialectic between the geometric perfection of surfaces and the chaotic complexity of the corroded and hollowed-out interior. Among the works on display are iconic sculptures such as Cube, Collapse movement, Rotary of Babylon and the famous Spheres. The exhibition offers a reinterpretation of the displays created by the artist, enriched by a valuable section dedicated to the archive materials, including catalogues, letters and original photographs that offer new insights into his visionary force and on the theme of sculptural writing.
