The exhibition Antonio Ligabue and the Art of the Outsiders offers one deep gaze and unpublished on the relationship between art and madnessproposing a fascinating and touching exhibition. The heart of the exhibition is Antonio Ligabue, an emblematic figure of an artist marked by psychic discomfort, but capable of creating a disruptive, expressive pictorial production, rooted in personal experience. Next to him, a selection of about forty works of other Italian authors such as Filippo de Pisis, Carlo Zinelli, Pietro Ghizzardi, Mario Puccini, Gino Sandriall protagonists of an art generated on the margins of society, often discovered during periods of confinement in psychiatric facilities.
The works on display provide a powerful visual narrative, where the portraits, the rural scenes, the still lifes and the intimate visions intertwine in a collective narrative made up of pain, resilience e visual poetry. Ligabue is represented through masterpieces such as Jaguar with gazelle and snake, Lioness with zebra, Fleeing foxto the intense self-portraits that tell the story of his tormented interiority. The exhibition also includes two previously unpublished works.
The exhibition, curated by Simona Bartolenais produced by ViDi cultural and Ponte43, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecco and the Sistema Museale Urbano Lecchese, and presents itself as a unique opportunity to reflect on the value of theartistic expression as human redemption and an instrument for healing the soul.
