Animals in Liebig’s Stickers

An extraordinary exhibition dedicated to the fascinating world of wildlife and the popularisation of history and science awaits visitors.

The exhibition showcases a valuable collection comprising as many as 72 sets of Liebig figurines, focusing specifically on issues relating to flora and the fauna. Originally created as a promotional tool for the meat extract produced by the company founded by the chemist Justus von Liebig, these historic and famous prints quickly became a veritable phenomenon of collecting on an international scale. As well as the sheer enjoyment of collecting and swapping them, the stickers have historically represented a a useful study tool and a source of knowledge accessible to all, capable of recounting the wonders of the natural world with both scientific and artistic accuracy. Among the many programmes produced by the famous Italian channel, which also boasts in-depth features on complex topics such as the History of Italy, the series devoted to the animal kingdom stand out for the quality of their illustrations and the accuracy of their descriptions.

The exhibition offers an overview ranging from the rarest and most historic pieces to the most widespread and readily available series produced from the the 1950s and onwards. The event, organised with great passion by the association èValtellina: Culture and the Local Area, transforms the museum’s galleries into a fascinating journey of visual exploration through period images, graphic art and popular science on nature.
