Alice Zanin | Candy Eaters
GRAND BRERA - PALAZZO CITTERIO - Milan (MI)
includedFrom Thursday 6.11.2025 to Sunday 29.03.2026
Installation Candy Eaters by Alice Zanin, edited by Andrea Dusio, takes the form of a refined intervention site specific in the evocative Temple designed by Mario Cucinella for Palazzo Citterio, transformed for the occasion into a kind of large open aviary, as in a 18th-century architectural whimsy. The work, a poetic homage to the Grand Brera and its vocation as a meeting point between art e natural sciences, proposes an immersive trail inspired by biodiversity.
Using the technique of papier mâché, Zanin gives shape to birds of astonishing colours, such as the Rosé spatulas, whose plumage - often mistaken for artistic artifice - is actually the result of their natural diet. The title of the installation plays on this visual ambiguity, ironically suggesting that the birds took on their colouring after eating pink candies.
The work is a’wonderful evocation of biodiversity, but also a profound reflection on nature, environment, circular economy e sacredness of flight, in dialogue with the ancient practice of Roman auspices. The Tempietto thus becomes a celestial observation point, a symbol of universal harmony between creatures and the cosmos.
