Full screen. Eni in Italian cinema

The exhibition tells how the Italian cinema transformed petrol stations and service areas into symbolic places of modernity, mirroring the social, economic and cultural evolution of the country. Edited by Sergio Toffetti and realised in collaboration with Eni, the exhibition takes place on the reception floor of the Mole Antonelliana. Through a chronological itinerary enriched by stills, images and commercials from 37 films, one traverses 20th century Italy using the petrol station as a leitmotif AGIP. The cinematic journey starts in 1943 with Obsession by Luchino Visconti, passes through The Mattei case by Francesco Rosi and comes to 2014 with Perez by Edoardo De Angelis, touching masters such as Federico Fellini, Dino Risi, Nanni Moretti e Carlo Verdone.

In the centre of the route is a reproduction of the station Agip in Piazzale Accursio a Milan, made in 1953 by Mario Bacciocchi, architectural masterpiece and symbol of the economic boom. Inside this structure, visitors can discover the evolution of station design thanks to the materials of the’Eni Historical Archive, which holds projects of Marcello Nizzoli and the famous “six-legged dog” of Luigi Broggini. The set-up follows the criteria of Design for All, ensuring ease of use thanks to the introduction in LIS (Italian Sign Language).
