Little explorers of light and colour

Once upon a time, there was a colour lying there, resting… then the light came and made it shine! This evocative image marks the start of a journey through the galleries of the GAM, designed to guide children in discovering art through storytelling, observation and sensory experience. The tour becomes a journey through time: from the smooth, luminous and harmonious neoclassical sculptures in white marble, we move on to the Divisionist paintings, where colour comes alive and vibrates in countless tiny strokes. Guided by the workshop leaders, the children observe the works from close up and from a distance, using coloured filters, viewfinders and simple sensory tools to recognise contrasts, details and the play of light. In the workshop, they experiment with colour combinations and, using paint and unconventional tools, create their own masterpiece of light and colour.
