November at the Carrara Academy

During the month of November, Accademia Carrara offers a rich calendar of visits and special itineraries that interweave painting, matter, history and memory: from the stones protagonists of the exhibition Art and Nature to the female portraits of Catherine and the others, to urban tours and dialogues between museums and cemeteries. All appointments are by appointment only.

The exhibition Art and Nature recounts the stones that played a leading role in the artistic landscape between the 16th and 17th centuries: artists experimented with their potential by enhancing their hues and veining, transforming them into an integral part of the depicted subject. The illusion is to aim at eternity and to rival the creative power of nature.

👑 Catherine and the others
Saturday 15 November 10.30 a.m.
On the occasion of the widespread exhibition Caterina Cornaro Experience by Fondazione Teatro Donizetti, a guided tour dedicated to the Queen of Cyprus, the protagonist of the famous painting by Francesco Hayez. A feminine tale that invites us to overcome stereotypes through new perspectives and authentic voices.

🏛️ One city, a thousand stones

Guided tour of the exhibition Art and Nature and the city: from paintings to precious objects to urban architecture, stone bears witness to artistic and material histories and evolutions.

On the occasion of Contemporary Locus 17, an itinerary between art and memory that brings Bergamo's cemetery and one of the city's oldest institutions into dialogue, reflecting on the links between places of conservation, worship and remembrance.
