The “Macchina Magnifica” is a special bus that takes passengers on a journey through the vast and wonderful ever-changing landscape of Piedmont.

This innovative tourism and cultural project was launched in 2022 in the Basso Monferrato Astigiano Ecomuseum area and is now available and customised for other Ecomuseums in Piedmont. It offers the public an original travel experience, combining artistic performances, the discovery of evocative places and food and wine.

The “Magnificent Machine” offers an immersive experience discovering the unique features of the Ecomuseum of the Water Lands: a rural area characterised by a variety of landscape and environmental features (barns, mills, rice fields, biotopes, lowland woods, water and river areas), which make it unique in the world.

It extends across the vast Vercelli plain, between the Sesia, Po and Dora Baltea rivers, which is one of Europe's main rice-growing areas.

The audience is accompanied and entertained by artists (actors and musicians) who offer poetic suggestions and entertainment through genuine moments of live performance., where every location – from the most famous and renowned to the most secret – becomes an exceptional stage.

STAGES OF THE TOUR (duration approx. 3 hours):

• At Mulino San Giovanni: concert by singer-songwriter Ricky Avataneo – After Mauro and Lucia Gardano welcome the audience and give an engaging introduction to the venue, Ricky Avataneo accompanies them through folk and blues sounds, ranging from ancient traditional ballads to singer-songwriter songs, with lyrics in Piedmontese and Italian in a varied hybridisation of genres. A musical journey that speaks of work, love, spirits and migration, passing from the hills of Monferrato to the mountains of Valsusa, from piole from Turin to the juke joints of Mississippi, from the rice fields of Vercelli to the swamps of Louisiana.
• A Leri Cavour: “To Leri…go, Cunt!” Artists Tommaso Massimo Rotella and Elena Formantici, with the participation of the Associazione del Borgo di Leri Cavour, lead the public on a discovery of the village so dear to statesman Camillo Benso di Cavour, who sought respite from his political commitments here and loved to devote himself to agriculture and the sweet company of women. A glimpse into the life of Cavour on the eve of Italian unification.
• A Cascina Oschiena: the theatrical monologue “Poetry gathered in the garden” with Massimo Barbero is a tender tale that speaks to adults and children alike about love for Mother Earth, through poetry and the enchanting story of a dynasty of market gardeners.

This will be followed at 7.30 pm by a tasting of Vercelli panissa and salam d'la duja with the Amis d'la Tripa di Tronzano. Contribution of €10.00.

Shuttle departure from Turin:

• 2 p.m. PIAZZALE CAIO MARIO, NEXT TO CAFFÈ ROYAL
• 2:20 p.m. CORSO SAN MARTINO, CORNER OF PIAZZA XVIII DICEMBRE, ICE BLUE BAR SIDE
• Return by shuttle to Turin in the evening, around 10.30 pm.
