Over the weekend of Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, the historic residence of Lajolo House In Piossasco, the doors to its splendid gardens are opening for the twelfth edition of the Kitchen Garden Festival, which this year is entirely dedicated to the theme “The Flavours of the Land”.
An experiential journey designed to engage all five senses: guided tastings, exhibitions, hands-on workshops, a large exhibition and market, and haute cuisine experiences curated by exceptional chefs such as Matteo Baronetto, alongside in-depth scientific analysis featuring experts such as Giorgio Vacchiano.
The Programme at a glance
- Saturday 12 September – The Senses
The opening day focuses on sensory discovery:- Hearing: Presentation of SoundFood, the innovative smart lamp that transforms sound into an ingredient.
- Nose: An event dedicated to the region’s aromatic herbs.
- Touch: A sensory tour of the garden whilst blindfolded.
- Umami: Workshop and in-depth session on fermentation techniques.
- Taste and View: Evening aperitif in the vegetable garden with a literary reading (booking required).
- Sunday 13 September – Products and People
A day packed with events, educational workshops for young and old alike, and a lively market showcasing the finest local food, drink and horticultural produce:- Photography exhibition: Piossasco through the ages through vintage postcards.
- Talks & Tastings: Special features on Piedmontese olive oil, honey and vinegar, and the region’s essential oils.
- Special events: Book presentation Contemporary Piedmontese cuisine with chef Matteo Baronetto and a scientific talk Tales of Trees with Giorgio Vacchiano.
- Creative workshops: Watercolour workshop, “Hands-on with lavender”, activities on nutrition and botany for families.
- Off Garden Festival – “Explore the surroundings: walk and discover”
A wide range of activities taking place throughout the village and in the surrounding countryside: guided tours of the open-air museums dedicated to Alessandro Cruto and Giuseppe Riccardo Lanza, scent trails dedicated to Piossasco Vermouth, visits to historic chapels and guided walks in the Monte San Giorgio Park.
Accessibility and Services
Casa Lajolo is an inclusive venue that caters for all visitors (certified with the Events for everyone). During the event, there will be Braille panels, AAC signage, audio guides with videos in Italian Sign Language (LIS) and an LIS interpreter on site.
- How to get there: A particular focus on the environment with the launch of a free shuttle from Piazza Pertini to Piossasco or via the old Strà d’j Babj, reopened for the occasion to walkers.
- Catering: Coffee and light lunch service provided by Giò Catering.
Information and Tickets for Season Ticket Holders
- Saturday 12 September: Free for holders of the Museum Pass (instead of €10).
- Sunday 13 September: Special ticket for €2 for holders of the Museum Pass (instead of €12).
