Scientists for a Day
Garlate (LC)
Sunday 15 November 2026 at 15:00-17:00
Visit the historic 18th-century silk mill, come and meet our silkworms reared in the museum and explore the silkworm’s life cycle (from egg to butterfly) with magnifying glasses and stereomicroscopes – essential tools for observing the world up close and discovering it as we’ve never seen it before! What is silk thread really like? Or a mulberry leaf? Come and find out in our workshop, where we’ll have close-up encounters with strange creatures: tiny eggs, larvae, chrysalises and butterflies. “Scientists for a Day” is an initiative organised by the Abegg Civic Silk Museum in Garlate and forms part of the B.A.M. (Children at the Museum) programme, designed specifically to bring families closer to the museum.
