AM Family | Let’s play with Ambrogio’s monstrous creatures
Milan (MI)
Saturday 3 October 2026 at 10:30-12:00
A fun-filled tour designed for nursery school children, to discover the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio in Milan through play. Hidden within the basilica are fish tails, deer antlers, lion’s paws, eagle heads and dragon’s jaws: these belong to mysterious animals carved into the capitals of Ansperto’s quadriportico, just waiting to be discovered one by one. During the tour, we help the children discover these stone monsters and learn about the tools medieval stonemasons used to create them, recounting the history of one of the oldest sites in Roman and early medieval Milan in simple, engaging language.
