AM Club | The “Genius”: Belle Epoque behind the lens Special archives
Bergamo (BG)

Saturday 19 September 2026 at 16:30-17:45
Guided tour of the exhibition Portrait of an Era. Photographs by Eugenio Goglio (1865-1926) organised in the exhibition section of the Sestini Museum of Photography with a “close up” workshop on the original photographic materials. The exhibition is dedicated to one of the most precious funds of the Sestini Photographic Archive and returns to the public a heritage of extraordinary artistic and documentary value.A journey between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, in the charm and elegance of the Belle Époque that also seduced the Valle Brembana amidst dreams of modernity, worldly life and regal visits: Goglio becomes “the photographer” of the valley and its people, and becomes the interpreter of that climate suspended between the impetus towards the new and the frank concreteness of the world of the simple. At the end of the tour, the exploration of original archive material will open the doors to the world of early photography: daguerreotypes, stereoscopies, silver bromide plates, albumen positives, aristotypes... almost magical objects that will enchant you.
