AM Club | Dorothea Lange

The Museo Diocesano in Milan, in collaboration with CAMERA - Centro Italiano per la Fotografia in Turin, presents the exhibition Dorothea Lange, which celebrates the American photographer 130 years after her birth through 140 shots.

A journey that began in the 1930s and 1940s, when Lange became a crucial witness to some of the epoch-making events that would change the economic and social structure of the United States and that prompted her to abandon her profession as a portraitist to document current events. Through her outstanding qualities as a reporter and portraitist, Lange manages to deal with complex and dramatic contexts, recounting the personal experiences and emotional experience of each person encountered along the way, while at the same time highlighting how political choices and environmental conditions can affect the lives of individuals and drastically change their lives, still providing food for thought on issues such as poverty, the climate crisis, migration and discrimination.
