AM Club | Bruno Barbey. The Italians

Visit the current exhibition at Palazzo Barolo in Turin, dedicated to Bruno Barbey (1941 - 2020), one of the masters of Magnum Photos. Between 1961 and 1964, as a young photography student in Switzerland, he escaped the boredom of classes by travelling through Italy, moving from north to south documenting the contrasts of an evolving society: a country rising from the rubble of the Second World War and discovering the opportunities offered by the Economic Miracle.

Barbey's project on Italy remains a valuable document today, able to make us relive, with new eyes, a recent past and to reflect on the cultural identity of our country.
